CASE STUDY 1 - FAMILY CLUBBERCISE

Astley Sports Village in Cheshire is running four online Family Clubbercise classes a week with an average of 40 clubbers per session. They also run a weekly Clubbercise class for adults with an average of 30 clubbers.

Mark Storie, Director of Astley Sports Village, says:

‘Online Clubbercise is going really well. My main focus at the moment is to keep engagement with current members whilst also trying to expand my online audience with the hope of new members joining us once we re-open. To raise awareness of the sessions we ask attendees to tag us on social media in their post Clubbercise selfies.'

Natalie Robinson has been a PE teacher for 15 years and a Clubbercise instructor for 4 years, she says:

"Our Family Clubbercise sessions are always so much fun with the youngsters bringing a whole new level of energy to class, not to mention the competitiveness it creates between Mums, Dads and kids! Family Clubbercise is a refreshing, cohesive way to exercise, inclusive of all ages and abilities. With the recent shift to Clubbercise classes becoming Online sessions during lockdown, I am thrilled to see families are still joining me live from their living rooms! I truly believe the whole ethos of Family Clubbercise (the darkened room, the lights, the uplifting music and the ‘let go’ attitude) promotes physical and mental well-being, improves social interaction, boosts self-confidence, motivates and bonds the family."

Young Clubber Olivia, age 10 says

"Clubbercise with my family is funny, exciting, a little bit silly but great exercise. After a few weeks I am now remembering some of the routines. It's great doing exercise with my mummy as well ..... We put disco lights on, close the curtains and light up the living room."
